Empowering Teens & Young Adults to Build Brighter Futures!
At Bleeding Disorders of the Heartland, we believe every young person deserves the tools, confidence, and support to build a successful and independent future.
BDH THRIVE is our Teen & Young Adult Program, designed for individuals ages 13–20 affected by bleeding disorders. Through interactive education, hands-on activities, mentorship, and meaningful connections, THRIVE helps participants develop essential life skills while preparing for the transition into adulthood.
Our program focuses on six key areas:
- Financial Literacy: Budgeting, saving, understanding credit, and making informed financial decisions.
- Employment Readiness: Career exploration, résumé building, interview preparation, and workplace skills.
- Independent Living Skills: Preparing for life after high school, managing responsibilities, and building independence.
- Navigating Insurance: Understanding health insurance, healthcare costs, and available resources.
- Leadership & Confidence: Developing communication, self-advocacy, decision-making, and leadership skills.
- Building Brighter Futures: Setting goals, exploring opportunities, and creating a plan for personal success.
Beyond education, BDH THRIVE provides a welcoming environment where teens and young adults can build friendships, share experiences, and connect with peers who understand the challenges of living with a bleeding disorder.
